Each lameness case costs approximately £200, through lost milk, treatment costs and lower fertility.
We have secured funding from the Healthy Livestock Initiative that subsidises practical lameness solutions.
The cost for this is £25 per month with input over a two year period. If you can save one cull or reduce your incidence by four clinical cases in two years this has more than paid for itself.
Our lameness package offers the following:
- Mobility score of the herd to assess lameness level
- Full assessment of your herd lameness causes to identify potential savings, highlighting your problem (and good) areas
- An afternoon follow-up advisory visit after the initial assessment with farm specific advice on how to go about reducing lameness levels
- Two group meetings to look at how to effectively treat lame cows for ulcers, white line disease and digital dermatitis
- A follow-up mobility score to assess progress and impact of the programme on your farm
- Lameness data analysis at the end of the first and second year showing benefits and the financial impact for your farm
- A free halter, parlour top and lameness information pack
