The course tutor is Sotirios Karvountzis MRCVS.
The course is tailored to those who want to refresh their knowledge on lameness in cattle and also to the ones who want to learn about preventative foot trimming.
The Dutch foot trimming approach is taught, with visual aids.
A practical session follows, which is full of hands-on lameness treatment and foot trimming practice on cows.
Each course will only have two students, as this allows in depth training and the opportunity to address the individual’s needs. Please bring your own hoof knives and clippers.
Areas to be covered are:
- Structure of the digit
- A brief mention on diseases of the claw
- Restraining the lame cow
- The five foot trimming cuts
- Application of hoof blocks
