We are a dedicated team of 8 dairy vets and our aim is to maximise your profitability by improving health and performance on your farm. We aim to provide you with the best possible service 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.
To help us achieve this we have a dedicated group of vets, with over 100 years of experience in dairy practice.
We have a proactive approach, offering practical advice on fertility, mastitis, lameness, infectious disease, preventative medicine and production.
Our team of vets meet every week to discuss farm problems so that we make maximal use of all our expertise to provide solutions. We endeavour to have the most up to date knowledge to enable us to provide you with the best possible service. Our vets spend at least one week of the year training or attending meetings so that we are at the cutting edge of dairy medicine.
While in practice our vets have studied for five postgraduate veterinary qualifications, and our vets provide training for other vets in the UK and abroad. We are a member of XL Vets, a group of independently owned progressive practices that are committed to the future of the UK livestock industry. By working together, sharing experience, knowledge and skills XL Vets strive to achieve clinical excellence in veterinary practice.
Shepton Veterinary Group
We regularly hold a range of farmer meetings, discussion groups, farm visits and training courses tailored to our clients’ individual needs. This allows us to improve your skill set and knowledge on issues relevant to your farm.
We run a DAISY recording bureau to manage information for your herd, providing you with action lists such as cows due to calve or dry off, cows suitable for service, cows for your vet visit. We can also manage your calf passport applications, medicine and movement records.
Together, the DAISY service and our recording software allow us to analyse your fertility and disease incidence, identifying areas of strength and opportunity. Using this, we regularly provide benchmarking information to our clients, and can provide a monthly Milk Alert © report to further improve the utilisation of farm information.
We believe in having a simple, transparent price structure that is fair to all our clients. We are committed to providing you with the most competitive medicine prices and regularly review these to ensure that we always offer the most cost effective medicines.
We do not charge for pre-planned visits, because pre-planning our work allows us to arrange calls in a local round, saving both time and fuel. All of our work is charged on a time basis, so the more organised you can be on farm, the better value we are!
